Hi from Angela and family and welcome to Small World Cafe.
Small World Cafe is small enough to be friendly, with time for a chat, but large enough to ensure we can have a good, varied menu. Wherever possible we use fresh local products; milk & cream is from Marleycote Walls farm in Slaley, sausages & bacon from the Northumbrian Sausage Company, free range eggs from Lintz Hall farm in Burnopfield and beers from Allendale and Wylam breweries. All bread and rolls are freshly baked for us by Rothbury Home Bakery, scones and tray bakes are homemade and sponge cakes from the Pudding Parlour. We also stock a range of specialist Italian cakes and dairy/gluten free cakes and tray bakes. We have a passion for food and get a great feeling from serving tasty food and pride from seeing people truly enjoying what they eat.
We aim to combine our favourite local products from across Northumberland and the Scottish Borders with top quality tea and coffee – fresh, local food in a friendly, relaxed environment. Visit us for a warm welcome and great food.
We want to ensure everyone can enjoy our cafe, so we cater for gluten free, dairy free, vegan and vegetarian requirements – please ask to see our gluten free dairy free and vegan menus. We also have disabled access.
We have a range of local products to buy in our deli section, check out our range of gins and liqueurs from Alnwick Gin, honey from Northumberland Honey Company, North Chocolates and other seasonal products
We look forward to welcoming you into our Cafe
Best wishes.
Angela
I really love this place and have been a frequent visitor since it opened. It is warm and friendly and the staff are excellent. They provide a wonderful friendly, family atmosphere and the service is superb. It can get busy at lunchtimes (obviously) as it is very popular but the staff will always go out of their way to seat you as soon as possible.
The food is lovely – paninis, baked potatoes, light dishes and some of the most tasty soups I have ever had. It all seems to be home made and is very fresh. Most dishes have a slight Italian influence and they have a wonderful range of cakes and bakes to tempt you after you main meal or with a cup of tea or coffee.
The layout is modern and stylish with both small and larger tables and squashy sofas in which to relax and watch the world hurry about its business in Hexham. I often visit with my mother who is not always able to finish what she orders and the staff make no fuss about boxing up what she has left so she can take it away and enjoy it later. They are truly welcoming and the atmosphere is always relaxed. I wish them every success in their new venture and think Small World cafe is an asset to the town.
Best cake in Hexham. Bloomin’ good coffee too. After one of their espresso’s I could see through time itself. The young lass making the coffee has a real knack and has the most sincere welcome to everyone who goes in. Clearly knows what she’s doing and who she works with.
The new owners are doing a great job and the staff appear really motivated. I really wish this team all the best and I’ll be having a lemon meringue next..
Fabulous staff
Fabulous food, especially the cakes!
Fabulous coffee
Fabulous atmosphere
My mother and I called in after the lunchtime rush and the whole experience from customer service to the delightful food was top class and the icing on the cake (pardon the pun) was the cleanliness of the whole place, considering they were still busy!
Very professional, it’s up there with the best and we are looking forward to sampling more of the menu on our next visit.
Popped into Small world cafe today for a late lunch. The menu is fab, great choice and very reasonable priced, was good to see you can have a breakfast menu as late as 3pm.
I ate egg benedict,my partner had turkey, mozzarella and sun dried tomato toasted ciabatta, with a choice of two sides. The coleslaw was amazing…..but not as good as his dessert the homemade white chocolate cheesecake….I had a tiny taste, I can vouch that it was truly amazing. Very attentive, friendly staff.
The cafe was very clean and tidy despite it bursting at the seams. Obviously a very popular place to eat.
Definitely won’t be long till we return, then we can sample the rest of the menu…..
